I currently have three poetry pamphlets.
Only Blood

My debut pamphlet was Only Blood with Yaffle Press. The book mostly focuses on biographical events, a childhood in which I lost my mum when I was only five years old, and which was complicated by being brought up a Catholic.
“A poet who has found her clear, sensitive voice – always honest, sometimes wry but with a hard won and wise self-compassion. I love her threads of connections that run through the poems, holding them together; loss, intimacies made and broken, disappointments, mother and child. And below this, a music that runs almost invisibly under the work, like a low bass note.
Deborah Alma
“Only Blood examines inheritance, loss, tenderness and the strength and fragility of our bodies with humour, charm and grace. These poems turn private moments into keepsakes and charms: the ‘tight as a fist’ tension of a horse race, the ritual of plaiting hair, a visitation from Jesus, clearing out a wardrobe…In these generous poems, Pat Edwards charts birth, death and everything in between, handling every subject deftly.”
Helen Mort
“The poems give us family history and the experience of growing up powerfully and unsentimentally, and the poet has a real control of language to maximise emotional impact…a new poet with something very important to say and all the tools to say it.

Kissing in the Dark

This pamphlet is available from Indigo Dreams Publishing Ltd and explores some of the confusion around sex and gender, touching on the role of parents, relationships, religion, and social politics.
“Poems where myth is made flesh; tattooed, hard-kissed and razor cut.”
Helen Ivory
“These are poems which show us the small miracles and frustrations of our lives. The poet’s voice is strong throughout and has us questioning ourselves, our defaults and our identity, so that we begin to think we might all be Kissing in the Dark.”
Gill Connors
Hail Marys

This pamphlet is with Infinity Books UK (Mab Jones) and is a thought-provoking and brilliantly varied book which celebrates a range of women – real and imagined, dead and alive – all of whom happen to share the name Mary.
“Edwards re-imagines, reanimates, reignites, and resurrects, grows each Mary into something poetically special, makes each a star, allows them space on the page to shine.”
Emma Purshouse
“In beautifully crafted poems that soar off the page, Pat Edwards gives gratifying voice to some of history’s often bypassed women who were bestowed this name. From our present world of food banks to stagecoach mail, the immaculate birth to the Civil Rights Movement, each Mary stands her ground.”
